India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Starts Official Visit in Cambodia

A high-level delegation of Lok Sabha (House of the People or Lower House) of the Republic of India led by H.E. Speaker Om Birla began their four-day official visit in Cambodia tonight, at the invitation of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia.
The delegation was warmly welcomed upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the NA Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Propaganda and Information.
Indian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade was also present on the occasion.
During his stay in Cambodia from April 21 to 24, H.E. Om Birla will be granted a royal audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and meet with NA President Samdech Heng Samrin and Senate President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum.
H.E. Om Birla is also scheduled to visit Angkor temples in Siem Reap province before concluding his visit in the Kingdom.
The visit aims to cheer the 70th anniversary of Cambodia-India diplomatic relations as well as to further strengthen the ties of friendship and good cooperation between the two countries’ legislative and executive bodies.
