JOHOR REWARDS SHAH FIRDAUS RM30,000 FOR KEIRIN SILVER

The Johor government is rewarding RM30,000 to national track cyclist Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom for winning the keirin silver in the International Belgian Track Meet (IBTM) in Ghent yesterday.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Muar-born cyclist, who also clinched a silver in the same event at the International Cycling Union (UCI) Track Nations Cup in Cairo, Egypt in March, had put Malaysia on the world map with his exploits.

“In recognition of his feats, the state government is proud to contribute RM30,000 to Shah Firdaus for continuing to glorify Johor and Malaysia on the international stage.

“May he continue his excellent performance in the upcoming series and go on to qualify for the World Championships to be held in August,” he posted on Facebook today.

The 27-year-old rider finished behind Frenchman Sebastien Vigier, the 2022 European champion representing Creteil-kronos, in Ghent.

France National Team’s Luca Priore took the bronze.
