“Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destructions” Disseminated

The Taskforce for Anti-Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing and Proliferation Financing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA.IC) organised yesterday a Webinar on the dissemination of the “Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destructions”.
The Webinar was chaired by Secretary of State at the MFA.IC H.E. Luy David, with participation of 178 representatives from Foreign Non-Governmental Organisations (FNGOs) in Cambodia, the Ministry of Interior and the media.
According to a press release of the MFA.IC, this webinar was organised as parts of Cambodia’s commitment and efforts to fulfill her obligations under the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) resolutions on combating the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, which is also in line with the Financial Action Task Force’s standards.
Throughout the Webinar, the Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction was disseminated in order to deepen FNGOs’ understanding on the content and legal framework of the law and encourage them to implement their obligations as the reporting person/entity. Such implementation will show their cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia and the international community to apply measures to prevent, control, suppress and eliminate the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destructions.
The participants discussed and exchanged views on procedures for Cambodia, particularly the reporting person/entity, to implement the UNSC’s resolutions.
At the end of the Webinar, the participants were encouraged to widely disseminate the above-mentioned contents to their colleagues and the public to ensure effective implementation of this work.
