MAINTENANCE, REPAIR OF POLICE STATIONS, QUARTERS BOOSTS MORALE OF PERSONNEL

The RM150 million allocation, part of which is for repairing and upgrading old police stations and quarters, will further boost the morale of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel in empowering the quality and effectiveness of services.

Ampang Jaya Police Station deputy chief Sub-Insp Azhar Jaafar said the recent announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has indirectly given new impetus to police personnel nationwide.

He said the maintenance work on the facilities would improve the quality and comfort in the police quarters.

“The allocation given to the PDRM, involving RM100 million for the renovation and upgrading of police quarters and stations will surely encourage the personnel to return to their quarters with a sense of calm and comfort.

“As a PDRM personnel, I am grateful for this announcement. We hope it can be implemented so that our services and contributions to the community will be more effective,” he told Bernama at the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters here today.

Echoing his sentiments was Corporal Husnul Khatimah Nanang Mardi, who said the initiative to repair PDRM quarters is very meaningful to them, especially as their job involves facing various forms of pressure daily.

She said the initiative would not only benefit the police personnel but also their family members living with them in the quarters.

Meanwhile, Constable Muhammad Aiman Abd Razak said the government should implement the initiative from time to time to ensure the facilities at the police stations and quarters are in good condition.

Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Datuk Seri Sahabudin Abd Manan was today reported to have said that RM100 million will be allocated for the repair and maintenance of police quarters and facilities nationwide.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the RM150 million allocation announced by Anwar would be fully utilised to ensure the well-being of police personnel and repair old police stations and quarters.

On July 15, Anwar announced an allocation of RM150 million for the maintenance and upgrading of infrastructures belonging to the PDRM and Prisons Department nationwide.

Of the total, they approved RM45 million for the repair and procurement of equipment at 117 General Operations Force (GOF) control posts; RM40 million for Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom)-related infrastructure and facilities; and RM50 million for the maintenance of police quarters; and RM15 million for the Prisons Department (work to repair quarters and facilities).
