Bidding for Construction of a new NA Administrative Building Announced

The National Assembly of Cambodia has announced a public bidding for the construction of a new National Assembly building.

According to the announcement issued on Nov. 12, the construction of a new administrative building of the National Assembly of Cambodia is under the US$25 million grant assistance from the Vietnamese government.

The new administration building will be located in the premise of the National Assembly, in Phnom Penh.

Bidding applications should be submitted to the General Secretariat of the National Assembly by Nov. 27, 2021.

Preah Sihanouk Province, the Most Visited Destination Last Weekend

Preah Sihanouk coastal province was the most attractive destination among domestic tourists last weekend, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
Phnom Penh capital and Kampot province were the two runners-up, followed by Pursat and Siem Reap provinces, it added.
The same source pointed out that a total of over 180,000 domestic visitors were recorded in the weekend of Nov. 13-14, of them 175,801 were Cambodians and 4,495 were foreigners.
The figure represents an increase by 3.29 percent compared to the previous weekend, it underlined.
Tourism destinations as well as tourism-related businesses across the country have opened for visitors and been preparing for the upcoming Water Festival this week, the ministry said.
Yesterday, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, announced to remove the quarantine requirement for all fully vaccinated incoming passengers, both Cambodians and foreigners, from Nov. 15 onwards.

His Majesty the King Returns from UNESCO’s 41st General Conference in Paris

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, arrived home from Paris, France where he attended the 41st General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in celebration of its 75th anniversary, since Nov. 10, 2021.
The monarch was welcomed upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Cambodian top leaders, including Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate; Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly; and Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen; as well as many other senior government officials as well as royal family members.
During his stay in France, on Nov. 12, His Majesty the King delivered a royal speech at the official Opening Ceremony of the General Conference which centers on the crucial achievements of UNESCO in Cambodia.
On Nov. 13, the Cambodian monarch granted a royal audience to H.E. Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the UNESCO, during which he said Cambodia is preparing necessary documents to inscribe Kun Bokator as an intangible cultural heritage and Koh Ker Archeological Area in Preah Vihear province as a world heritage site. He also thanked UNESCO for its assistance and support for Cambodia so far.

52 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Cambodia

Cambodia’s daily cases of COVID-19 continue to drop, to 52 this morning, most of which were linked to the Feb. 20 community outbreak, according to the Ministry of Health.
The source continued that these are PCR test results. The national counts now stood at 119,588, including 19,739 imported cases.
At the same time, the ministry registered 55 new recoveries, but 5 new deaths (4 of them have not been vaccinated); bringing the total cured and death cases in the Kingdom to 115,979 and 2,872, respectively.
The first COVID-19 case was detected in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province. The confirmed cases have surged quickly this year due to the Feb. 20 community outbreak.

Cambodia Ready to Host Asia-Europe Cultural Festival Next Week

Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts is ready to host the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival from Nov. 22 to 26 with a view to enhancing and deepening the cultural ties between Asia and Europe.
At a press conference held here at the ministry this morning, H.E. Dr. Kim Pinun, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and Vice Chairperson of the National Organising Committee for the 13th Asia-Europe Summit (ASEM13) and ASEM side events, said the forthcoming Asia-Europe Cultural Festival will be held under the theme “Asia-Europe Culture Connect”.
It is a side event to ASEM13 which features different forms of performances, exhibitions, film screening and discussions, he continued, stressing that the Festival will enhance dialogue between the 51 countries in Asia and Europe members of ASEM.
For his part, Mr. Tihamer Czika, Head of Political, Press and Information at the EU Delegation to Cambodia, pointed out that the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival will strengthen solidarity and cooperation between countries of the two continents.
The upcoming event will show the cultural richness and diversity between countries in Europe and Asia, as well as the creativity of artists from both continents, he said, adding that the festival will take place virtually in Brussels, Belgium from Nov. 15 to 26 and Cambodia from Nov. 22 to 26.
According to Mr. Ek Buntha, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Cultural Techniques, during the five-day festival from Nov. 22 to 26, artistic events representing more than 20 Asian and European partners, including dance and theater performances, concerts, visual arts, exhibitions and discussion forums with artists, will be officially presented on www.ASEMculturelfestival.com. The festival’s physical programme include six art exhibitions held at the National Museum and four film screenings at Major Cineplex in Phnom Penh.
Other side events of the ASEM13 include Asia-Europe Forum on Women, Peace and Security, the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP11), 1st Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum (AEEBF1), ASEF Young Leaders Summit, and the 10th ASEF Editors’ Roundtable (ASEFERT10).
