PM Congratulates Achievements of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries


Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his congratulations to the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, especially in ensuring food security.

The Premier made the positive remark when he presided over the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at the ministry this afternoon.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the world was very concerned over El Nino phenomenon, but Cambodia, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, had actively tackled the issue.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also took note of the ministry’s achievements during the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Cambodia’s agricultural production in 2023 reached 36.81 million tonnes, an increase of about 6 percent compared to 2022, of which milled rice was recorded at 12.49 million tonnes, horticulture production at around 4.96 tonnes and industrial production at a
bout 18.96 tonnes, with 0.4 million tonnes of rubber products.

Cambodia has exported a total of 8.82 million tonnes of agricultural products worth about US$4,798 million, he said.

Besides, he added, the Kingdom has a surplus of 7 million tonnes of paddy rice or 4.5 million tonnes of milled rice for local consumption.
