RELA Members to Enhance Information Channeling Along Malaysia’s Border

Kota Bharu – Members of the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) stationed in three districts along the Malaysian border in Kelantan will now be better equipped to relay information to the police, enhancing security operations. General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade commander SAC Sheik Azhar Sheik Omar stated that RELA members in Tumpat, Pasir Mas, and Tanah Merah are currently positioned at three Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) complexes alongside GOF members.

According to BARNAMA News Agency, the initiative aims to ensure that all information gathered by RELA members is promptly passed on to the police for intelligence and action. The goal is for each RELA member assigned to ICQS to channel at least one piece of information every month to the police. This strategy is expected to bolster border security and intelligence gathering efforts. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of a RELA course at the GOF Officer’s Mess, attended by SAC Sheik Azhar, 8th GOF Battalion commanding officer Supt Mohd Suhaimi Ismail, and Kelantan RELA director Amirul Ikhwan Ahmad Shukri.

This collaboration between RELA and the GOF is a significant step in strengthening Malaysia’s border security and ensuring a more effective response to potential threats or illegal activities in these areas.
