RGC, ILO Committed to Strengthening Cooperation


The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) are committed to further fostering their cooperation for the socio-economic development of Cambodia and for the improvement of people’s livelihoods.

The commitment was made during a meeting here this morning between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Ms. Chihoko Asada-Miyakawa, Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific at the ILO.

The ILO assistant director general congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia on achieving the best results in launching a social protection policy for poor families, vulnerable groups and workers-employees during the COVID-19 crisis, and expressed her support for Cambodia in preparing for the LDC graduation by 2029.

Ms. Chihoko Asada-Miyakawa also praised the RGC’s political programme which contributes to and supports employment and vocational training, and especially associations in promoting harmonious industrial relat
ions in factories and enterprises.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the ILO for its contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, and voiced his support for the ILO’s existing programmes in the Kingdom as well as encouraged the ILO to continue supporting the labour sector, especially building human capital to meet the market’s real needs by building high-capacity and flexible skills to contribute to achieving Cambodia’s goal of becoming a high-income economy by 2050.

Besides, Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the RGC has given priority to building harmonisation in factories and enterprises in order to ensure a good working environment for employees and employers as well as to improve the working conditions for all workers-employees.

The RGC always pays great attention to taking timely and effective measures to resolve labour disputes through the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, underlined the Premier.
