SELANGOR HEALTH DEPT SEIZES 62 HEALTH PRODUCTS WORTH ALMOST RM1 MLN

PUTRAJAYA: The Selangor Health Department seized 62 unregistered health products worth almost RM1 million, the Health Ministry (MOH) said in a statement today.

The seizure was conducted based on joint inspections by the Selangor Health Department’s pharmacy enforcement branch on May 9.

‘The department took enforcement action against the online sale of unregistered health products following public complaints,’ the ministry said, adding that preliminary investigations revealed that the sale of products was conducted by a foreign company operating abroad using a local logistic hub operator to store and distribute the unregistered products to Malaysian consumers.

‘The company used an e-commerce platform as a sales medium for consumers,’ the MOH said.

Sales of unregistered health products are violations of Regulation 7(1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984, punishable under Section 12(1) of the Sale of Drugs Act 1952, the ministry added.
