KUALA LUMPUR, Application for ‘Permit Sembelihan Luar (PSL)’, which is a permit to slaughter animals outside an approved slaughterhouse, for the Aidiladha sacrifice is open until June 20, according to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).

In a statement to Bernama, DVS said applicants should refer to the District Veterinary Services Office to obtain the Veterinary Health Certificate (SKV) for the location of the permit to be issued, whether it should be applied for at the District Veterinary Services Office or the nearest DVS Slaughterhouse.

It said a permit has to be obtained to slaughter livestock outside slaughterhouses such as mosques, schools, housing estates and other locations.

The application for the permit can be made at the office of the state or district Veterinary Services Department, read the statement.

Those intending to open a slaughterhouse can apply by filling out the application form through the link https://www.dvs.gov.my/index.php/pages/view/198.

Meanwhile, DVS has also published guidelines on animal slaught for the Aidiladha sacrifice which take into account animal welfare, food safety and laws and regulations regarding the monitoring of sacrificial livestock, premises and slaughter operations as well as livestock waste management to avoid the risk of zoonotic disease infection.
