Some US$21 Million NEC’s New Office Building Broken Ground


The construction of a new office building of the National Election Committee (NEC) worth approximately US$21 million began here this morning.

The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by NEC President H.E. Prach Chan and his spouse, with the participation of many NEC officials.

According to H.E. Hang Puthea, a Member of NEC, the nine-storey building covers on a total land surface of 32,000 square metres on Sothearos Street in Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh.

The construction of the building would take 22 months to complete, pointed out H.E. Hang Puthea, adding that the new office building will offer voting service for the public, which is beneficial for the whole nation.

The new building will have a meeting hall which can accommodate 450 people, and it is equipped with LED lights and other necessary equipment providing benefits and confidence for the political parties, as well as with other technology systems to ensure the public’s trust on the voting sector in Cambodia, he added.
