UMNO YOUTH RECEIVED OVER 500 TVET COURSE APPLICATIONS FROM SPM GRADUATES VIA STUDY PROGRAMME – AKMAL

KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Youth Wing has received over 500 applications from Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates via its ‘Kau nak belajar, abang bantu ko dik’ education assistance programme to help guide them in applying to further their studies in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses in all parliamentary constituencies.

Its chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said in a statement today that UMNO Youth welcomed TVET-related efforts done by the government to ensure SPM graduates could further their studies.

The UMNO Youth Wing had organised its education assistance programme on June 6 to help SPM graduates and those who did not sit for their SPM examinations to further their studies, he said, adding that it was aimed at opening their eyes to the importance of education and offer them a chance at changing the course of their lives.

On May 30, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had urged SPM graduates who performed excellently to consider choosing TVET as their main choice
in furthering their studies.

He also expressed hope that 10,160 students who failed to show up for their SPM examinations would apply directly for TVET courses.
