SULTAN NAZRIN GRACES OPENING OF KUALA KANGSAR HEALTH CLINIC


KUALA KANGSAR, The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graced the opening ceremony of the Kuala Kangsar Health Clinic here today.

Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja Puan Besar of Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah and Raja Di Hilir Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah were in attendance.

Their Royal Highnesses arrived at 11.08 am and were welcomed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and his wife, Datin Seri Aezer Zubin.

Also present was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

At the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin signed a plaque as a symbolic gesture of officiating the clinic.

Meanwhile, Dzulkefly, in his speech, said the Kuala Kangsar Health Clinic building was built under the 11th Malaysia Plan at a cost of RM 20.75 million and has been operating since Jan 4, 2021.

He said the clinic provides primary healthcare services for the Kota Lama Kiri, Kota Lama Kanan, Sayong and Senggang sub-districts, w
ith an estimated population of 60,000 people.

‘This clinic offers holistic services through outpatients and emergency services, counselling services by psychological officers, medical laboratories, pharmacy, X-ray services and rehabilitation.

‘Two family medicine specialists have been stationed at this clinic along with 11 staff members of various positions, as well as a periodontics specialist and 37 staff members for the Dental Clinic,’ he said.

Dzulkefly said the health clinic plays a vital role in transforming the delivery of primary healthcare, adding that since its operation, the number of visitors has increased from 300 to 400 people per day in 2021 to between 500 and 700 people per day in 2023.

He mentioned that services outside the facility are also provided to increase access for certain groups through health teams, school teams, and domiciliary care teams for those requiring home care.

KING PRESENTS ROYAL INVITATION TO CORONATION CEREMONY TO BRUNEI SULTAN


KUALA LUMPUR, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim today presented the instrument of royal invitation to his Coronation Ceremony as the 17th King of Malaysia to the Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

According to the post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, the presentation of the royal invitation took place during the royal audience at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan, after which Their Majesties proceeded to a luncheon.

Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim was welcomed on arrival at the Brunei Royal Flight Hangar by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Minister of Communication Fahmi Fadzil, Grand Chamberlain of Istana Negara Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini, Foreign Ministry Head of Protocol Datuk Mohd Aini Atan and acting Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Nur Ezira Mahadi were in attendance.

The King’s Coronation is slated to be held at Istana Negara on July 20.

Sultan Ibrahim took the oath of of
fice as the 17th King of Malaysia on Jan 31.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES FLIGHT EN ROUTE TO BANGKOK INITIATES EMERGENCY DESCENT AND RETURNS TO KLIA


KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia Airlines flight MH780 experienced a ‘pressurisation issue’ while en route to Bangkok today after departing Kuala Lumpur at 5:59 pm.

‘The operating pilots initiated an emergency descent although cabin altitude was not exceeded and passenger oxygen masks were not deployed,’ it said in a statement here today.

The aircraft remained stable and returned to KL International Airport where it safely landed at 8:18 pm.

VETERAN ACTOR KAMAL BAKAR DIES


KUALA LUMPUR, Veteran actor Kamaruldzaman Bakar, better known as Kamal Bakar, passed away at Melaka Hospital around 1 am today. He was 62.

His son, Hanis Kamal, shared the news of the actor’s death on his Facebook post.

‘Assalamualaikum everyone, my father Kamaruldzaman Bakar (Kamal Bakar) has just passed away. Let’s recite Surah Al Fatihah for my father,’ he said in the post.

Hanis said his father’s remains will be taken to the Bukit Baru Melaka Mosque at 11.30 this morning to be bathed and shrouded, before the burial at the Bukit Baru Melaka Muslim Cemetery after Zohor prayers.

On Saturday, Hanis disclosed that his father had been critically ill for two weeks in the ICU at Melaka Hospital due to stage four lung cancer.

The late Kamal began his acting career in the 1970s by starring in various dramas and films such as Andai Itu Takdirnya, Orang Minyak, Suami Aku Ustaz, Pendekar serta Ratu Teh Pin.

SALE OF MAHB SHARES AMONG HIGHLIGHTS AT DEWAN RAKYAT SITTING TODAY


KUALA LUMPUR, The explanation on the sale of the Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) will be among the highlights at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

According to the Order Paper published on the Parliament’s official website, the question will be raised by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) during the Minister’s question time to the Prime Minister.

Mohd Shahar will request an explanation on the government-linked consortium of investment companies concerning the sale of MAHB shares.

Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar), meanwhile, will ask on the government’s strategy following Malaysia’s drop to 34th position in the World Competitiveness Ranking 2024.

In the Oral Question and Answer Session, Manndzri Nasib (PN-Tenggara) will ask the Housing and Local Government Minister about the assistance provided to homebuyers facing ‘sick’ housing projects, particularly projects under the people’s housing initiative.

Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-
Rantau Panjang) will also ask the Health Minister on the number of cases received through the National Mental Health Crisis Line and follow-up actions to help them.

After the session, the sitting will resume with the second reading of the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Bill 2024 by the Human Resources Minister, who will also table the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Bill 2024.

The Second Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament runs until July 18.
