Australia Supports Cambodia’s Shift to Clean Energy

Cambodia – H.E. Justin Whyatt, the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, has confirmed Australia’s support for Cambodia’s transition to clean energy. This commitment was detailed in a news release issued by the embassy this morning, highlighting the scope of Australia’s assistance in this significant environmental initiative.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Australia will contribute to Cambodia’s clean energy efforts through the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED). This partnership will focus on increasing the adoption of variable renewable energy, professional development for energy officials, connecting remote areas to off-grid solar solutions, and promoting energy efficiency through the development of an Energy Service Companies (ESCO) market.

Cambodia is gearing up to host its annual Clean Energy Week from November 16-23. This event aims to promote and celebrate the various benefits of clean energy within the country. The week-long event includes a variety of activities such as dialogues, workshops, exhibitions, and awareness-raising events, all designed to showcase clean energy innovations, successes, and inclusive benefits. The event also seeks to foster collaboration between private and public sector stakeholders and increase public awareness about clean energy.

This year’s Clean Energy Week is particularly significant, given Cambodia’s recent strides in clean energy development. The country has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring energy system security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The sixth edition of the event is expected to draw a diverse group of participants, including policymakers, industry professionals, investors, and academics. They will unite under the common objective of accelerating Cambodia’s transition to clean energy.

Australia’s support for Cambodia’s clean energy transition highlights the growing international collaboration in tackling environmental issues and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
