Cambodia to Further Strengthen Diplomatic Ties with Chile


Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this afternoon stressed that the Kingdom will enhance her diplomatic relations with Chile.

While receiving H.E. Patricio Fernando Powell Osorio, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the Kingdom of Cambodia at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet mentioned that Cambodia is in the preparation process for the appointment of Cambodian ambassador to Chile with residence in Brazil.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister thanked the Chilean government for supporting Cambodia’s candidacy in the United Nations.

The Cambodian Premier congratulated H.E. Patricio Fernando Powell Osorio on his appointment as the new Chilean Ambassador to Cambodia and expressed his pleasure at the progress of Cambodia-Chile relations and cooperation as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

For his part, H.E. Patricio Fernando Powell Osorio expressed his commitment to
strengthen and expand Chile-Cambodia cooperation both in the bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

H.E. Ambassador praised the rapid socio-economic and infrastructure development in Cambodia, as well as showed his interest in Cambodian culture and traditions and the friendliness of the Cambodian people.

In this meeting, both sides also discussed the potential areas for the strengthening and expansion of cooperation between the two countries, including economy and trade, tourism, people-to-people connectivity, renewable energy, environment and sustainability, and disaster prevention.
