Cambodian Senate President Receives Ambassadors of Indonesia and Cuba


Cambodian President of the Senate Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received separate courtesy calls on by Ambassadors of Indonesia and Cuba at the Senate Palace this morning.

During the meeting, H.E. Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia expressed his hope that the relationship between Cambodia and Indonesia, especially people and people connectivity will further enhance.

The Indonesian diplomat also highlighted that Cambodia and Indonesia still has rooms to expand more cooperation, particularly trade as now the bilateral trade between the two nations is reached some US$ 1 billion.

For his parts, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his congratulations to H.E. Gen. Prabowo Subianto, on his recent election victory as the new President of Indonesia and shared some historical facts about Cambodia peace process that he had been worked with previous Indonesian leaders, as well as good cooperation with H.E. Joko Widodo during his office.

a to further boost trade, investment and agriculture with Cambodia.

Earlier on the same day, Samdech Techo Hun Sen met with H.E. Ms. Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, newly-appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In the meeting with Cambodian Senate President, H.E. Ms. Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen is honoured and well-respected by the Cuban people while the long-standing friendship bond and healthy relationship between the two countries is strong with good cooperation in many programs.

The Cuban ambassador also touched on the rice production project initiated by Cambodia for Cuba and said Cambodia and Cuba should have a memorandum of understanding on health and other areas such as culture. She also intends to work with relevant Cambodian ministers to learn more about the potential for the mutual benefits of both countries.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed profoundly thanks for Cuba’s precious support an
d assistance to Cambodia right after the country liberated from Khmer Rouge’s genocidal regime.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his pleasure and recommended that Cuba should learn and use Cambodia rice production technique and experience to apply in Cuba and encouraged the Ambassador to further work with Ministry of Health for future cooperation.
