Culture is the Nation’s Soul


Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this evening reaffirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia will do its best to further preserve and protect the nation’s culture.

Addressing the celebration of the 26th National Culture Day here at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the Royal Government will continue to support and promote the culture preservation in all circumstances.

H.E. Mrs. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, said in all circumstances, whether in happiness or in difficult situation, the Royal Government of Cambodia has always clearly defined that culture is the soul of the nation, the national identity, the inexhaustible source for the foundation of strengthening the spirit of love for the motherland, reinforce internal unity, promote world recognition of the nation’s ancient culture and civilisation and be a source of sustainable socio-economic development.

In this sense, the concept of conservation for development and de
velopment for conservation has become a clear strategic principle for the arts and culture sector in Cambodia, she stressed.

The minister said for the past nine years, the National Culture Day has been celebrated under the same theme: Youth for National Culture, to raise awareness among all circles about the endless task of preserving the national arts and culture and the obligations required.

It is also important for young people to take turns and to raise awareness of the risks of impacts in a context where the world and the region lack cultural and artistic barriers, as well as the evolving state of the use of new technologies and socio-economics, said H.E. Mrs. Phoeurng Sackona.
