Kuala Lumpur – The number of evacuees in temporary relief centers across the states of Perlis, Perak, and Kedah has decreased as of this evening. This decline marks a significant development in the ongoing flood situation affecting these regions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, In Perlis, the state Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud reported that the number of evacuees has reduced to 41 people from 12 families as of tonight, compared with 44 people from 13 families this morning. According to Mohd Izaimi, evacuees are still housed at the Titi Tinggi Hilir Hall in Padang Besar, which opened at 1 am today. However, some evacuees were allowed to return to their homes by 6.45 pm.

In Perak, the state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat noted a decrease in the number of evacuees to 210 people from 61 families tonight, down from 269 people from 80 families this morning. Relief centers remain operational in Hilir Perak, Kerian, and Kinta districts, sheltering affected families. Notably, the relief center at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gerik, which accommodated 24 people from eight families, was closed at 2 pm.

Kedah also saw a drop in evacuee numbers, with 31 people from seven families seeking shelter tonight, a decrease from 43 people from 11 families reported this morning. Kubang Pasu district APM officer Captain (PA) Mohd Adenin Suhaimi informed that some evacuees housed at SK Malau were allowed to return home this afternoon, while others remain in the relief center.
