Mindef Commits to Regular Reporting on Littoral Combat Ship Project

Kuala Lumpur – The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) has agreed to a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) recommendation to submit a quarterly progress report on the Royal Malaysian Navy’s littoral combat ship (LCS) project. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari affirmed Mindef’s commitment to transparency and information sharing with the PAC.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly explained that various committees involved in the LCS project regularly meet to gather and share information. The PAC had urged Mindef to provide updates every three months until the completion of the LCS project, in line with international project management standards.

The LCS project faced controversy when it was revealed that despite RM6.08 billion paid to Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS), not a single ship had been completed. Mindef’s compliance with PAC’s recommendations aims to ensure greater accountability and oversight in the project’s progression.
