MORE THAN RM141 MILLION SPENT FOR “BANTUAN PRIHATIN PAHANG” – MB

KUANTAN, The Pahang government has disbursed more than RM141 million for the ‘Bantuan Prihatin Pahang’ (BPP) financial aid since 2020, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said the state government is aware of the need and benefits of implementing the BPP initiative and is committed to improving its implementation and expanding the programme so that more people can benefit.

This, he said, included the Circumcision Programme for Pahang-born Children which was introduced recently through the BPP involving an allocation of RM1 million for 3,000 recipients.

According to the Menteri Besar, also implemented was the ‘MyLesen Prihatin Pahang’ programme which involved providing subsidies for motorcycle licenses to those aged between 18 and 21 years, involving an allocation of RM720,000, and an eye cataract surgery initiative for the elderly with an allocation of RM1.5 million.

“The state government is also empowering existing programmes under the BPP to increase the benefits for recipients, incl
uding for students where assistance has been increased to RM400 this year from RM300 last year for each student,” he told the State Assembly sitting here today.

He was responding to a question by Su Keong Siong (PH-Ketari) regarding the BPP allocation and whether the state government intended to extend the assistance to more Pahang citizens.

Meanwhile, in response to a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PN-Cheka) about selecting the BPP recipients, Wan Rosdy requested the relevant parties to inform him of any individual eligible to receive the assistance but was not on the list.

In another development, Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee Chairman Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff said that as of December 2023, a total of 110 compounds amounting to approximately RM15,000 have been issued to parties for not complying with the use of Jawi writing for their signboards.

This followed a question from Zuridan Mohd Daud (PN-Damak) regarding th
e matter.
