New Pakistani Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Cambodian PM

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here at the Peace Palace this morning newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Cambodia H.E. Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, told reporters after the courtesy meeting that H.E. Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem congratulated Cambodia on its development, stressing that the Kingdom is a key partner of Pakistan.

The new ambassador pledged to do his best to bring the cooperation between Cambodia and Pakistan to a new level during his diplomatic mission, the assistant added.

For his part, he pointed out, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to H.E. Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem’s diplomatic mission in Cambodia and encouraged him to further promote and expand the bilateral relations and cooperation, especially in the economic, trade and investment sectors.

The Prime Minister also asked the Pakistani side to continue providing more scholarships to Cambodian students.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued that as the ASEAN Chair, Cambodia will boost the bloc’s economic recovery while living with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cambodia-Pakistan relations turn 70 years in 2022.
