NISTI and Battambang Teacher Education College Forge MoU to Propel STEM and Innovation in Cambodia


The National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI) and Battambang Teacher Education College on July 16 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance human resource development in science, technology, and innovation.

The signing ceremony was presided over by H.E. Nhim Khemara, Permanent Secretary of State for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, according to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation.

H.E. Keo Socheat, Director General of NISTI, expressed his vision for the institute to become one of Cambodia’s premier innovation centres by 2030. He emphasised NISTI’s dedication to research and development, aiming to provide technological solutions and support for SMEs to compete in regional and international markets. Additionally, he affirmed NISTI’s commitment to developing human resources, particularly in STEM fields.

Battambang Teacher Education College’s mandate is to train teachers, promote research in science, technology, and in
novation (STI), and enhance teachers’ skills in STEM and digital transformation.

H.E. Chea Rotha, Director of Battambang Teacher Education College said the institute aspires to become a centre of excellence for digital transformation, utilising educational technology to improve teaching methods, and developing apps and software to make lessons more practical and relatable for students.

The partnership between NISTI and Battambang Teacher Education College marks a new step towards enhancing STEM education and fostering a culture of innovation and technological advancement.
