PKNS ALLOCATES RM13,500 TO HELP 45 CHILDREN FROM UKHUWAH

SHAH ALAM, The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) today allocated RM13,500 to help 45 children from the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ukhuwah Anak Yatim/Miskin Daerah Sabak Bernam (UKHUWAH) to buy clothing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri through the programme, ‘Shopping Raya Ramadan Kasih PKNS’.

Its corporate services senior general manager Sapna Turmidi said the programme, which is into its second year of implementation, was held in collaboration with Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE), and is aimed at bringing joy to these children as well as to lighten the burden of the UKHUWAH home administrators by providing them with Aidilfitri supplies.

“Similar to last year, PKNS has allocated RM300 each but this time around the children involved will be given the opportunity to choose their own Raya clothes and shoes, and the clothing will also be worn at the Iftar Ramadan Kasih PKNS programme later,” she told reporters at the PKNS Complex here.

“We are very happy to see the excitement of these children. Hopefully, this
spirit and joy will continue until Ramadan and Aidilfitri.

Sapna said PKNS also organised various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes under the umbrella of the Ramadan Kasih PKNS programme throughout this fasting month in line with the corporation’s commitment to share sustenance with those who are less fortunate.

She said in addition to ‘shopping raya’, Ramadan Kasih PKNS this year will also include the distribution of bubur lambuk, Iftar (breaking of fast) and Ramadan supplies, as well as holding Iftar events

“Programmes like these do not only provide help in the form of material things to the needy, but also these are opportunities to strengthen ties among the people, further fuelling the spirit of camaraderie and caring in the community,” she said.

Sapna said the CSR programme also reflects PKNS’s continued commitment as a state government agency in consistently implementing initiatives to ‘give back’ to the community, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.
