Royal Government and UN-ESCAP to Boost More Cooperation


The Royal Government of Cambodia and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) will continue to strengthen their cooperation for socio-economic development and improvement of the people’s livelihoods.

The commitment was made in a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of UN-ESCAP held this morning at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

In the meeting, H.E. Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana expressed her gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for the existing good cooperation with UN-ESCAP.

Taking this opportunity, the UN-ESCAP executive secretary briefed the Premier on four priority areas within the framework of continued cooperation, including: 1- providing protection to the people based on the principle of “No one is left behind” and environmental protection with a focus on climate change. 2- facilitating investment and trade by promoting trade connectivity of
UN-ESCAP member countries. 3-building and strengthening digital capacity for people. 4- providing financial support to contribute to the realisation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended warm welcome to the new visit of H.E. Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana to Cambodia, and thanked the UN-ESCAP for its contribution to the Kingdom’s socio-economic development as well as its commitment to continue its cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister also introduced his guest on the 7th-mandate Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase, which prioritises the enhancement of the people’s living standard through building resilience and sustainable growth to achieve Cambodia’s 2050 vision of becoming a high-income economy.
