Signed Cooperation Agreement between AKP and AA Exchanged


The Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) under Cambodia’s Ministry of Information and state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) of Trkiye have exchanged their cooperation agreement after the signed it electronically early this year.

The exchange took place here at the Ministry of Information this morning between H.E. Ms. Sokmom Nimul, Director General of AKP, and H.E. Ms. Ülk Kocaefe, Ambassador of Trkiye to Cambodia, under the witness of H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information.

On the occasion, H.E. Neth Pheaktra recalled AKP’s background, and underscored the significance of cooperation between the two news agencies on news content and photo exchange, which will lead to the potential exchange of visits between Cambodian and Turkish journalists in the future.

Under the agreement, true information about Cambodia will be spread to the Arab world, especially Trkiye and vice-versa, he added, taking the chance to inform the Turkish side about the resumption of Kampuchea Newspaper, the official daily news of Cambodia.

For her
part, H.E. Ms. Ülk Kocaefe shared the AA’s background, and spoke highly of the AKP-AA agreement which opens a new chapter of cooperation between the two countries.

The Turkish ambassador stressed the importance of information for both government and every citizen, saying ‘The world has become smaller, the social media and modern communication techniques have enriched up, so do challenges such as misinformation, disinformation, fake news […], and the best ways to deal with that is international cooperation.’

She continued, ‘The world has changed a lot in the past 65 years, but our friendship has grown stronger. We will continue to enhance and further deepen our relations, increase bilateral trade and investment, explore new areas of cooperation like news cooperation today, invest in human capital development of Cambodia, enhance development cooperation, and increase people-to-people contact, …’

According H.E. Ms. Ülk Kocaefe, AA has a huge global network, by delivering 13 different languages with representa
tives in over 100 countries, and a diverse workforce of 107 different nationalities.

This year marks the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Turkey.

Besides AA, AKP has news cooperation agreements with China’s Xinhua, Vietnam’s VNA, Thailand’s NTT, Russia’s TASS and Sputnik, Italy’s AGI, Bulgaria’s BTA, Cuba’s PL, and so on.
