UMNO Members Should Continue To Serve, Not Lulled By Past Successes – Khaled

KUALA LUMPUR, All UMNO members need to continue to devote themselves in bringing prosperity to the people and not to be swayed and feel complacent with past successes as it will be to the detriment of the party.

UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said UMNO’s national struggle is not just to gain power but to restore the Malays’ trust in the party.

“Without that, we can ask ourselves what else is left of this party? What is the meaning of UMNO’s presence on the Malay political stage? Therefore, each of us has to play a role in our respective circles to make it successful,” he said in a post on Facebook today.

Mohamed Khaled who is also the Minister of Defence, said all members must also highlight the superiority and uniqueness of UMNO as a good movement that fights for the future of the Malays.

“UMNO has excelled in various matters, including the establishment of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), the Pilgrimage Fund and most recently the Technical and Vocational Education a
nd Training (TVET) initiative for Malay children.

“All this needs to be announced in order to elevate the role of UMNO which is different from other parties,” he said.

Mohamed Khaled said the presence of UMNO in the MADANI government is also a political strategy and UMNO remains the only spokesperson for the Malays who fight for their interests and destiny.

“With the little power we have, in addition to being able to serve well, we also have the opportunity to restore and nurse the party to recover,” he said.
