WORKS MINISTRY FTROADPEDIA ON TOUR OF PAN BORNEO EXPRESSWAY

The FTRoadpedia Tour by the Works Ministry and the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development from here to Miri to monitor the progress of the Pan Borneo Expressway project, which has reached 97 per cent completion, started today.

Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the tour is to ensure the highway is safe and comfortable for users when it is fully opened next year.

“It (tour) is part of an effort and preparations to ensure the road is in the best condition,” he told reporters at the flagging-off of the tour here today.

He said the tour today will be until Sibu with stops at several locations before continuing the tour to Miri tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Sarawak Port Infrastructure and Development Minister, said through the tour, the ministry would be able to update the latest status of the project to the public.

“The Pan Borneo Expressway is a very big project…it is a game changer for Sarawakians, for example, you can reach Betong within three hours. We need to update the people on the project,” he said.

The two-day tour will cover a journey of 816 kilometres ers (km), involving 11 work package contracts (WPC) of phase 1 of the Pan Borneo Expressway phase 1 starting from WPC02 of the Kuching-Serian route to Lambir Miri.
