Workshop to Foster “ASEAN-China Partnership”


The Southeast Asian Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) and Go Study Global Education have convened an ASEAN-China Partnership workshop to build relations and technical education partnerships.

The opening of the workshop took place in Phnom Penh on Jan. 15 under the presidency of H.E. Oum Rumny, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, and H.E. Liu Youyi, Director General of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Education Department of the People’s Republic of China.

Addressing the function, Dr. Ey Songheang, Director of SEAMEO TED, underlined that the workshop aimed to strengthen the partnership on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to connect technical education schools in China and ASEAN countries.

It will be done through the sharing of experience and technical skills by experts from China and other Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

H.E. Liu Youyi said
the workshop is a good opportunity to catch up for more discussion and strengthen the collaboration between ASEAN and China on TVET.

China considered the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as an entrance for strengthening cooperation and partnership with the ASEAN region, H.E. Liu Youyo underscored.

H.E. Oum Rumny emphasised the significance of the workshop, which is an opportunity to seek understanding on the best implementation of partnership and cooperation between China and regional countries.
