H.E. Hun Many Attends Official Opening Ceremony of 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia

H.E. COVID-19: Daily Infections Jump to 47

The Cambodian Ministry of Health this morning announced the detection of up to 47 new cases of COVID-19, all of Omicron variant; bringing the tally to 136,753.

According to the ministry’s press release, of the 47 new infections, 46 were transmitted locally and 1 was imported.

At the same time, 26 more recoveries were recorded while no new death was reported; the total cured cases and death toll in the Kingdom thus stood at 133,495 and 3,056, respectively.

The Kingdom began to register new cases of COVID-19 since June 29, 2022 after 52 days of zero infection.

Recently, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen appealed to his compatriots to increase their vigilance against the COVID-19 pandemic as the Omicron subvariants – BA.4 and BA.5 – are spreading in the country.

The Premier reaffirmed that there will be no closure of towns, schools and markets, but urged once again his fellow citizens to adhere to the health safety rules, particularly the “Three Dos, Three Don’ts” measure and to get vaccinated, both the basic and booster doses.

The first COVID-19 case was found in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province.

PM Congratulates Two Cambodian Gold Medalists at World Police & Fire Games in the Netherlands

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has extended his congratulations to two WT Taekwondo athletes who have got gold medals at the 2022 World Police & Fire Games in the Netherlands

“Congratulations to athletes Sam Yudeth and Va Mithona who won gold medals at the 2022 World Police & Fire Games in the Netherlands,” he wrote on his official Facebook page this afternoon. “This is a pride of our whole nation.”

Cambodia has sent three WT Taekwondo athletes to join the 2022 World Police & Fire Games in the port city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands from July 26 to 31.

Athlete Phal Sovannath will have his match tomorrow, added the Premier.

“I wish all the athletes and sports delegates who attended the 2022 World Police & Fire Games to have good health and bring more success to our whole country,” Samdech Techo Prime Minister said.

According to its online source, the World Police & Fire Games is an international sporting event for police, fire, customs and corrections services personnel. It brings more than 10,000 athletes from 70 different countries to compete in 63 sports.

Cambodia, Korea to Further Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea have exchanged appreciation of blossoming bilateral cooperation, including between the two countries’ armies.

The note was made during a meeting on July 28 in Phnom Penh between Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army and H.E. Park Heung Kyeong, Korean Ambassador to Cambodia.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manet underlined the need to sustain the good relations, especially in military for national and regional peace.

The deputy commander-in-chief hoped that with the support of the Korean Embassy and the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Cambodia, the two countries’ armies will be able to enhance direct communication and coordination.

H.E. Park Heung Kyeong spoke highly of the effort of Prime Minister Samdech Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in re-establishing official diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1997, following the fall of Khmer Rouge regime.

The cooperation between the two countries over the past 25 years has developed in all fields, including trade, investment, education, military, demining and health, underlined H.E. Park Heung Kyeong.
