A popular 25-minute series, “Words of Peace,” featuring Global Peace Ambassador Prem Rawat, is returning to Bernama TV starting this Sunday, May 12.

The Prem Rawat Foundation, in a statement today, announced that the series, which garnered a significant following during its airing on Bernama TV from 2011 to 2016, will now be broadcast for 15 minutes twice a week, at 8.30 pm on Sundays and 7.30 pm on Wednesdays.

“The topic will be once again on peace and will feature among others, excerpts from Prem Rawat addressing students and academics in universities, top global institutions to large crowds in the open air as well as interviews with journalists from around the world,” read the statement.

The first episode, scheduled for this Sunday at 8.30 pm, will feature an interview session with Prem Rawat and the former Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Bernama, Datuk Yong Soo Heong.

According to the statement, they will discuss personal peace, evolving around how peace could be mankind’s biggest achi
evement.

Prem Rawat, aged 66, who has been spreading his message of peace for over five decades, holds two Guinness World Records for the highest attendance at his events, with the most recent event being attended by 375,603 people last November in India.

To date, Prem Rawat has shared his insights on peace with millions of people at 5,623 events worldwide.

Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, have expressed their condolences to the family of Dewan Negara president Datuk Mutang Tagal, who died earlier this morning.

“His passing occurred while he was in service to the nation. May his family find strength during this difficult time. Our deepest condolences,” said Their Majesties through a post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page.

Earlier, the Dewan Negara President’s Office had announced that Mutang, 69, died at 11.46 am at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here, after receiving treatment upon his return from Azerbaijan on May 6.

On Feb 19, the former Bukit Mas Member of Parliament was appointed as the 20th president of the Dewan Negara, replacing Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who relinquished the post following his appointment as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the passing of the Senate president Datuk Mutang Tagal this morning as a great loss not only to Sarawak, but also to the country.

In a post on Facebook, Anwar also expressed condolences to the senator’s family, hoping that they would stay strong in their moment of bereavement.

‘He was the first Dayak (of Lun Bawang ethnicity) to hold the office of the Senate President and his passing is indeed a great loss for the people of Sarawak and the country.

‘All his good deeds and contributions will always be remembered,’ he said.

The Office of the Senate President, through a media statement, announced that Mutang died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here at 11.46 am today at the age of 69.

It said he was admitted to IJN shortly after arriving from Azerbaijan on May 6.

He is survived by his wife Datin Ho May Leng and three children.

Mutang was appointed as the 20th president of the Dewan Negara on Feb 19, replacing Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who relinq

The ongoing Rahmah Sale Programme (PJR), which is reflective of the government’s genuine concern for the needy, is proving to be the main draw for people from all walks of life at the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) 2024 Carnival in Perlis.

A visitor from Sanglang near Arau, Syahirah Ahmad, 30, said the main attraction for her at the three-day carnival starting today at Dataran Lapang in Kangar Jaya here was the Rahmah Sale which allowed her to buy kitchen items at below-market prices.

‘I came early at 9 am to buy kitchen items at the Rahmah Sale. I will not miss the opportunity after seeing an advertisement from KPDN’s Facebook about the Rahmah Sale,’ she told Bernama at today’s sale.

Syahirah, who is self-employed, described the sale as a success as it eases the burden of the people to meet their family needs.

Sharing the same opinion, a civil servant Hasrul Razin, 42, from Bintong, Kangar said the Rahmah Sale at the 2024 KPDN Carnival offered many essential items at lower prices t
han in stores.

‘Thank goodness, the Rahmah Sale here has a lot of goods, from kitchen items to laundry products. Previously, I didn’t think there was any washing detergent for sale, but it’s here this time at a more economical price for the public,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Perlis KPDN director Norazah Jaapar said the organisation of the PJR in the state as of April recorded a sales value of RM1.4 million from 69 events held.

‘I am glad this PJR has benefited 40,000 consumers and we are continuing the Rahmah Sale concept at various venues and outside areas and the Rahmah Sale is on the move in Perlis,’ she said.

Norazah said the public can come in large numbers to enliven the 2024 KPDN Carnival, which offers a variety of interesting programmes including the Rahmah Sale, people’s folk sports competition, lucky draws and the Buy Malaysian Goods campaign.

‘The KPDN Carnival, which is being held for the first time in Perlis, features comfortable booths for people to shop for goods and engage in various activities
,’ she said.
