PUTRAJAYA, The collaboration between Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) in Supply Agreement of Renewable Energy (SARE) is capable of saving RM2.5 million for a period of 20 years.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the cooperation focused on the development of electricity, renewable energy and related matters for the development of Smart Cities and Low Carbon Cities in Putrajaya.

“The collaboration between PPj and TNB includes development, maintenance, research and training related to renewable energy including the development of rooftop solar, electric vehicles and infrastructure, energy related to public infrastructure and making Putrajaya a living laboratory location for energy-related technology,” she said.

She said this in a press conference after witnessing the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the SARE agreement between PPj and TNB, here today. PPj president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud and TNB chief re
tail officer Kamal Arifin A. Rahman were also present.

Dr Zaliha said the collaboration supports the government’s efforts in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NTER) as well as several plans in Putrajaya including the Putrajaya Smart City Action Plan (2018-2025) and the Putrajaya Low Carbon City Roadmap by 2030.

Besides, she said the MoU is also in line with achieving the vision of C.H.A.S.E City (clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly city) initiated by the Federal Territories Department.

She said as the start of the SARE programme, TNB through its subsidiary, GSPARX, will install a solar system with a capacity of 363 kilowatts (kWp) at PPj Complex and eight other main buildings including the Putrajaya Equestrian Park and the Putrajaya Lake Club which are expected to be completed early next year.

Apart from that, Dr Zaliha said GSPARX is also offering a special solar promotional offer for 200 homes to Putrajaya residents who want to use green energy while also enjoying savings on electricit
y bills.

The promotion will run for two months from June 1 to July 31 through three application methods, namely physically at Kedai Tenaga Putrajaya, by phone at 0103376769/01136463837 or email at retail.putrajaya@tnb.com.my.

Dr Zaliha said the MoU will also see several efforts towards green energy including the installation of 28,000 light emitting diode (LED) lamp posts around Putrajaya and 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by 2030 from 18 stations so far.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received at the ministry on June 4 a farewell call by H.E. WANG Wentian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia, upon his completion of tenure in Cambodia.

According to a news release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the farewell meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister SOK Chenda Sophea congratulated H.E. on the successful completion of his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea highly valued the Ambassador’s significant role in advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, which contributes to the building of Cambodia-China Community with Shared Future.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the conferment of the medal of ‘The Royal Order of Sahametrei Grand Cross,’ by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a testament to the recognition f
or the ambassador’s active contribution to deepening Cambodia-China bilateral cooperation.

H.E. SHAH ALAM, Five individuals, including two children, had a harrowing ordeal when the cars they were travelling in were hit by a falling tree along Jalan Kapar Batu 6, Klang, near here today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said six firefighters and a fire engine from North Klang Fire and Rescue station were mobilised for the rescue operation after they received a distress call at 3.10 pm.

Two cars were hit by the falling tree, one with a married couple, in their 30s to 40s, with two children, while the other car was driven by a woman in her 40s, he added.

“All victims, including the two children, a boy and girl, were unharmed and had gotten out of their cars before the firefighters arrived,’ he said in a statement here today.

Firefigthers were still cutting and removing the tree and debris, Ahmad Mukhlis added.
