BERNAMA PIONEER EMPLOYEE K SELVARAJ CREMATED IN KLANG


KLANG, The remains of former Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) employee K Selvaraj, who died yesterday, were cremated at the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) crematorium at 2.45pm today.

Selvaraj died at the age of 75 due to high blood pressure. He leaves behind his wife, A Dewana, 65, five children and six grand-children.

The funeral entourage began at his residence in Taman Subang Baru Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) in Shah Alam at 1.45 pm before arriving at the crematorium at 2.20 pm.

A sombre fifteen-minute ceremony was held before the cremation to allow family members and friends to pay their last respects, which included Bernama deputy editor-in-chief (News Service) Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and International News Service Executive Editor Ravichandran DJ Paul.

One of Bernama’s pioneer employees, Selvaraj began as an office assistant and served for 27 years (Dec 1, 1967 to Oct 15, 1994), with his last position at the agency as librarian.

He also worked in security sector for about two ye
ars after leaving Bernama.
