Cambodia Receives Over 1 Million Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine from Italy

Cambodia received in total 1,056,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from the Government and people of Italy at an official ceremony held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Lorenzo Galanti, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Cambodia, presided over the event.
The vaccines, which arrived in Cambodia on April 24, will be used as booster doses.
On behalf of the people and Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen profoundly thanked the Government and people of Italy for the donation and highly valued the latter’s spirit of sharing in combating COVID-19 in Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of the participation of all stakeholders and the general public and the contribution of development partners and friendly countries as well as the efforts of the Royal Government in containing and preventing the pandemic, leading to the resumption of the socio-economic activities.
With the newly-donated vaccines, Cambodia now has over 51 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines both through purchases and donations via bilateral and COVAX mechanism.
The number includes some 34,424,800 doses of Sinovac, 7,800,000 doses of Sinopharm, 5,165,500 doses of AstraZeneca, 2,489,730 doses of Pfizer, 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson, and 188,160 doses of Moderna.
As of April 24, about 93.08 percent of the total 16 million Cambodian population have been inoculated against the COVID-19 pandemic with the basic doses.
