Cambodian Lawmakers Take Part in AIPA Economic Committee Meeting in Vientiane


Cambodian lawmakers took part in a meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Committee on Economic Matters at the 45th General Assembly of AIPA this morning.

Cambodia was represented by H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the National Assembly Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Auditing, and H.E. Khuth Chandara, Member of the Commission on Public Transport, Civil Aviation, Post, Telecommunications, Industry, Science, Technology, Innovation, Mining, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urbanisation and Construction.

According to the Cambodian National Assembly, the meeting approved eight draft resolutions as follows:

1. Strengthening ASEAN Cyber Resilience through Parliamentary Cooperation: Towards a Safe and Vibrant Digital Economy, sponsored by Brunei Darussalam;

2. Parliamentary Roles in Supporting the Implementation of the ASEAN Guidelines on Promoting Responsible Investment in Food Agriculture and Forestry, co-sponsored by Indonesia, Lao PDR and Malaysia;

3. the Role of Parliament in
Promoting Green Capital Mobilisation for Sustainable Infrastructure Development Towards the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 and Beyond, sponsored by Lao PDR;

4. the Role of Parliament in Promoting ASEAN Digital Technological Integration, towards the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 and beyond, sponsored by Lao PDR;

5. Strengthening ASEAN’s Path to a Unified Carbon Trading System for Sustainable Growth and Environmental Resilience, sponsored by Indonesia;

6. Harnessing Ecotourism Potential for Sustainable Economic Recovery in ASEAN, sponsored by Malaysia;

7. Improving Institutional Capacity to Promote Transport, Aviation and Seaports Connectivity in the ASEAN Region, sponsored by Viet Nam; and

8. Establishment of an ASEAN Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence, sponsored by the Philippines.

Delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam took part in the meeting. They provided numerous inputs and recommendations focused on
the overall benefits and significance of the resolutions to AIPA member economies.
