Cambodian Senate President Sends Condolence Letter to President of Constitutional Council of France

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a letter of condolences to H.E. Laurent Fabius, President of the Constitutional Council of France over the passing of H.E. Roland Dumas, former French Foreign Minister and former Constitutional Council President.

‘On behalf of all Cambodians and on my own behalf, I have the honour to present to you my very sincere condolences for the passing on July 3, 2024 of H.E. Mr. Roland Dumas, former Minister of Foreign Affairs then President of the Constitutional Council,’ he wrote in his condolence letter dated July 5.

Cambodians associate the name of H.E. Roland Dumas with the success of the Paris Agreement on Cambodia, signed in 1991, he underlined, adding, ‘His decisive action made it possible to create favourable conditions for peace and national reconciliation, and to establish the framework for the reconstruction of my country exhausted by more than twenty-one years of war and heartbreak.’

‘Shortly before
taking office in 1995 at the Constitutional Council, the happy opportunity was given to me to see H.E. Mr. Roland Dumas again and to express to him the high esteem of my compatriots for the friendship he devoted to the Kingdom of Cambodia,’ said Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
