CBO DIRECTORY LAUNCHED TO ASSIST TARGETED GROUPS IN TUMPAT

KOTA BHARU, The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) today launched a community-based organisation (CBO) directory in Tumpat to assist targeted groups within the local community in need of help.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Dr Maziah Che Yusoff, said that this directory would serve as a reference document for appointed CBO leaders to expedite actions.

“This effort aims to stem the rise in cases affecting targeted groups such as children, persons with disabilities (PwD), senior citizens and victims of domestic violence.

“It is based on the principle that protecting and ensuring the safety and welfare of these groups is a collective responsibility,” she said in a statement today.

Elaborating further, Maziah noted that the programme is part of the ministry’s initiative to empower CBO members in the Tumpat district as strategic partners in providing support to these groups.

Earlier, Maziah, together with volunteers from the Home Help Service, provided care and delivered contributions to
clients of the social programme.

Maziah shared that the Home Help Service was a welfare-oriented programme providing support services to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD), especially those living alone or with family members in financially disadvantaged households.

“The volunteers providing these services are registered under the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and trained.

“Some of the services provided include assisting clients with personal care, being a companion, conducting recreational activities and facilitating appointments for medical treatment at clinics or hospitals,” she said.

She urged the local community to utilise the helpline services for early assistance in cases of abuse, domestic violence, or neglect involving community members, especially children and women.
