KUCHING, The state-level Merdeka Month Expression 2024 organised by the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Sarawak, is scheduled for this Sunday at the Mydin Petra Jaya hypermarket here.
JaPen’s Corporate Media and Communication Division stated today that the programme aims to instil a sense of patriotism as the nation approaches the Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations in 2024.
“The Merdeka Month Expression 2024 serves as a lead-up to the Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, aiming to raise awareness among the people about the significance of these auspicious dates in Malaysian history.
“Furthermore, the main message of this event is to foster unity and to encourage the voluntary participation of a MADANI society in celebrating these occasions,” the statement read.
The symbolic event will be officiated by the Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai.
There will be a national quiz, a children’s colouring contest, free health screenings, and exhibitions by
agencies and departments in collaboration with JaPen’s strategic partners.
The programme will also be held simultaneously at two other locations: Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, to be officiated by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, and the International Technology and Commercial Centre in Penampang, Sabah, to be officiated by Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
