Phnom Penh: Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA) is committed to joining the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to achieve the country’s goal of becoming an upper middle-income country by 2030. H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of JCA, highlighted the commitment when he led a delegation of 26 Japanese companies to pay a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, at the January 7 Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the 26 companies, 17 of which are new to Cambodia, expressed their interest in exploring investment opportunities in the country in the areas of agriculture, food processing, aquaculture, among others. H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen of the JCA’s efforts to promote Cambodia’s potential to attract Japanese investment companies, particularly Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to invest in Cambodia. He reaffirmed the JCA’s commitment to continue strengthening and expanding coo
peration with the RGC in the industrial sector and human resource development.
The Cambodian Senate President welcomed the establishment of JCA’s office and the opening of three vocational training schools focusing on automotive repair, beauty care, and IT engineering skills in Cambodia. He praised JCA’s efforts in deepening relations between Japan and Cambodia and connecting the two countries’ private sectors, emphasizing the Japanese private sector’s significant contribution to boosting Cambodia’s economic growth over the years.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also welcomed the Japanese intention to invest in processing Cambodia’s abundant raw materials into valuable goods for markets in Cambodia, the region, and globally.
