LABUAN GEARING UP FOR 28TH EDITION OF LISC


LABUAN, Labuan is gearing up for its grandest annual event, the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC) 28th Edition, featuring an array of 17 exhilarating programmes, with a total prize pool of RM278,390

Organised by Labuan Corporation (LC), the event will take place from April 23-28, with all activities centered around the Labuan International Sea Complex.

LC chief executive officer Rithuan Ismail said the LC is aiming to position LISC as a major attraction and draw visitors to the island.

Anticipating a turnout of at least 30,000 visitors to Labuan, Rithuan highlighted the Labuan Round-Island Kayak Challenge and the LISC Daiwa Fishing Tournament, offering a combined RM126,300 in prizes, as the main crowd-pullers.

‘The Labuan Round-Island Kayak Challenge is poised to serve as a training ground for kayakers, gearing up for upcoming sporting events like SUKMA and the SEA Games.

‘Meanwhile, the LISC Daiwa Fishing Tournament promises thrilling fishing experiences, with main fishing fields set at Spratly
Island and Layang-Layang Island,’ he said to Bernama today.

Rithuan unveiled exciting new additions to this year’s edition, including Coastal Ninja Warrior, Regatta LISC, and Glamping LISC, catering to diverse interests and ensuring an engaging experience for attendees.

‘The event aims to celebrate the rich diversity of local sports while showcasing Labuan’s enticing water activities, transforming the island into a premier tourist destination that attracts thousands of visitors annually,’ he said.

He said the grand finale of the LISC 28th Edition on April 28 would be officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
