Nine New Investment Projects Generating Nearly 14,000 Jobs Approved

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has announced the approval of nine new investment projects creating a total of 13,849 job opportunities for the locals.

According to a CDC’s press release issued yesterday, the newly approved projects worth in total US$54.8 million are located in the provinces of Kampong Speu, Takeo, Svay Rieng and Kandal, and Phnom Penh capital.

Under the new projects, the same source said, factories of kitchen utensils, light bulbs, bags, shoes, clothing and molding and packaging papers will be established.

In addition, the CDC added, special economic zones (SEZs) in Svay Rieng province have attracted a bicycle et e-bike factory project and an electrical appliance manufacturing project.

Last week, the CDC’s SEZ Board granted green light to six more investment projects with a total capital of US$163.5 million in Phnom Penh and the provinces of Kratie, Svay Rieng and Preah Sihanouk, generating more than 3,000 new jobs and covering the manufacture of car tires, metal and plastic jewelry and accessories, light bulbs, glue, paints, inks, and so on.
