In 2023, 25.44 hectares of forest cover were restored and 27,125 saplings planted at five main locations in Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province.

According to USAID Morodok Baitang, the trees were planted by more than 600 people, implying the community’s strong engagement in tree planting, maintaining, and promoting the reforestation.

The tree planting was promoted through the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on environment under a partnership between USAID Morodok Baitang and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Cambodia in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment.

The forest cover restoration is also part of the reforestation project for 2022-2025 initiated by Keo Seima REDD+, aiming at restoring and enhancing forest cover across 1,000 hectares of land using native species.

In 2024, the project plans to plant 55,000 saplings on 50 hectares of degraded and cleared forest land areas.
