PM Calls for High Attention to Heat Wave


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has urged all concerned authorities to pay high attention to heat wave as the temperature keeps rising since the past few days, not only in Cambodia but also in the world.

At a get-together with civil servants, workers and employees at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port this morning, on the occasion of the 138th anniversary of the International Labour Day (May 1), competent ministries and institutions, especially the local authorities, are advised to be ready to intervene in case of fire incident and water shortage issue.

According to weather forecast, he continued, in early May, there would be rain, and a dozen of provinces have already had rainfall.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports decided to change the study hours of students at all educational institutions, with morning classes starting at 7:00 and ending at 10:00 and afternoon classes lasting from 14:00 to 17:00. In case the temperature rises beyond control, the
ministry underlined, educational institutions have the right to decide by their owns.

New weather forecast released by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology this morning, from May 1 to 3, 2024, the maximum temperature would rise to 39 degrees Celsius, but there would be some rain along with thunder, lightning and gusts in the highland and coastal areas.
