RoK Vows to Work Closely with Cambodia

As a key dialogue partner of ASEAN, the Republic of Korea (RoK) has pledged to closely work with Cambodia, the ASEAN Chair 2022, under the RoK-ASEAN framework.
President of RoK H.E. Moon Jae-in made the remarks while holding a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, in Seoul, RoK this afternoon, on the sidelines of the World Summit 2022, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Cambodian Premier.
The Korean president expressed his support for Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and wished the Kingdom success in this key role.
He also sought Cambodia’s support for the candidacy of RoK as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed H.E. Moon Jae-in on the theme selected for ASEAN this year as well as the bloc’s challenges and priorities during Cambodia’s chairmanship.
The Cambodian Premier suggested both countries to hold activities to mark their diplomatic ties which turn 25 years in 2022.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister asked the Korean side to continue supporting human resource development in Cambodia through scholarships and trainings, and increase quota for Cambodian migrant workers in Korea.
He took the opportunity to thank the Government and people of RoK for their assistance to Cambodia, particularly in physical infrastructure construction, and for their contribution to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic through soft loan and medical supplies.
