Cambodia, Australia Appreciate D&D Reform Cooperation

Cambodia and Australia have appreciated on-going bilateral cooperation in all sectors, especially in decentralisation and deconcentration reform in Cambodia.
The appreciation was shared in a recent meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahorm Sar Kheng and H.E. Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh.
H.E. Pablo Kang recalled that under social accountable framework 2021-2023, Australia through the World Bank, has granted Cambodia US$15 million for the D&D programme.
Samdech Sar Kheng reaffirmed Cambodia’s 10-year commitment in promoting decentralisation and deconcentration reform in the country, thanking the Government of Australia for its assistance.
The two sides also spoke highly of the good bilateral cooperation in law enforcement, including human resource development and crackdown of crimes, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The diplomat added that Australia is ready to continue training Cambodian law enforcement forces and immigration officers.

Government Continues Measures against COVID-19 Impacts for Recovery

The Royal Government continues measures to mitigate the socio-economic fallouts of the COVID-19 pandemic and to support businesses to get back on track for the recovery stage.
The round-ten effort was articulated in an official announcement issued on Oct. 28 by the Council of Ministers.
One of the key attention of the measures is to continue assisting the manufacturers of the garment, footwear, travel goods, and leather, and tourism.
It entails monthly wage subsidies for workers in the areas, and tax relaxation for registered hotels, guesthouses and tour agencies in Phnom Penh capital, the provinces of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kep and Kampot, and Bavet and Poipet cities.
Another major attention of the interventions aims at aviation sector which include the continuation of minimum tax exemption and debt issue support.
The continued assistances will cover another three months, from October to December 2021.
Since the start of October, the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths has dropped remarkably, and the Royal Government has announced the reopening of the countries as well as businesses, and education activities, while ensuring safety practice and new-normal way of life.

Cambodian Top Leaders Send Congratulory Messages to His Majesty the King

On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Coronation Day, Cambodian leaders and people extended their congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen wished the monarch good health and longevity.
They also emphasised peace, stability and development in all domains in Cambodia under the cool shade of the His Majesty the King.
His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni succeeded to the throne on Oct. 29, 2004 by a vote of the Council of the Throne and following the late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk’s abdication.
To mark the Coronation Day, Oct. 29 is set to be a public holiday by the Royal Government of Cambodia for all civil servants as well as employees and workers in the private sector.

Cambodia Donates 200,000 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine to Vietnam

The Royal Government of Cambodia this morning donated 200,000 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in contribution to the fight against the pandemic and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
The handover ceremony was held at Bavet-Moc Bai border gate, Svay Rieng province under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 vaccination and her Vietnamese counterpart.
Speaking at the function, H.E. Dr. Or Vandine said that the contribution of vaccines reflects the good cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.
“The 200,000 doses of vaccines is to contribute with the Vietnamese government to combating COVID-19 and enhancing public health in Vietnam,” she added.
Vietnam is the second country for which Cambodia provided COVID-19 vaccines, after Laos which also received 200,000 doses on Sept. 28.
In 2020, Cambodia also donated facemasks and medical supplies to Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste and Nepal.

COVID-19: 101 New Cases; Tally 118,321

Cambodia reported only 101 new cases of COVID-19 this morning; the tally stood at 118,321, according to a press release of the Ministry of Health.
These are PCR test results, it underlined, adding that 18 of the new infections were imported while the rest were connected to the Feb. 20 community outbreak.
Besides, the ministry recorded 237 new recoveries, but 7 new deaths (5 of them have not been vaccinated); bringing the total recovered and death cases to 114,300 and 2,773, respectively.
The first COVID-19 case was detected in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province. The confirmed cases have surged quickly this year due to the Feb. 20 incident.
