SELANGOR FC HAS APPEALED TO POSTPONE CHAIRTY SHIELD – SHAHRIL


SHAH ALAM, Selangor FC today forwarded an official application to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to postpone the 2024/2025 season-opening Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), that is scheduled on Friday.

The Charity Shield match between Selangor FC and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) has been scheduled to be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Friday.

Football Association of Selangor (FAS) deputy president and FAS Technical Committee chairman Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the appeal for postponement was submitted based on safety reasons.

‘I can confirm that Selangor FC has officially appealed to MFL and JDT on the possibility of rescheduling the Charity Shield match on Friday, not cancel, for safety reasons.

‘I cannot reveal or elaborate further on the reason for the postponement but we have officially informed the MFL, so they will decidei,’ he told reporters after visiting Selangor FC striker Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim who is undergoing treatment at a private hosp
ital, here today.

Earlier, MFL chief executive officer Datuk Stuart Ramalingam had reportedly said that so far the match would proceed as scheduled since no team had requested for the game to be postponed although there were rumours that the match would be postponed after the acid attack on Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halil or simply known as Faisal Halim, on Sunday.

Faisal, 26, the national team striker was splashed with acid by two unknown assailants at a shopping mall in the Klang Valley and suffered fourth-degree burns that required him to undergo treatment at the intensive care unit of a private hospital.

It was the second unfortunate incident to happen to a Harimau Malaya player after Terengganu FC’s Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid suffered head and body injuries after being attacked by two robbers near his home in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday (May 2).

Five Medals Earned at 2024 Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship in UAE

Cambodia has earned five bronze medals at the 2024 Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

Taking place from May 3 to 5, the tournament attracted the participation of about 1,500 athletes from 31 countries.

According to the Ju-Jitsu Federation of Cambodia, it dispatched eight athletes to join the event, and the delegation was led by a coach, Mr. Jasper Martijn Pass.

Of the five bronze medals, three for Adults Ju-Jitsu Duo Men, Adults Ju-Jitsu Duo Open, and Adults Ju-Jitsu Show Open were won by Mr. Touch Pikakda and Mr. Kongmona Mithora.

Mr. Touch Pikakda and Ms. Heng Sivheang earned the medal for Adults Ju-Jitsu Show Mixed, and Ms. Tin Sovann Buokeo and Ms. Heng Sivheang won the one for Adults Ju-Jitsu Show Women.

FAISAL HALIM UNDERGOES SECOND SURGERY, SEEKS EVERYONE’S PRAYERS


SHAH ALAM, Harimau Malaya winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim has asked everyone to pray for his quick recovery following an acid attack at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on Sunday (April 5).

Football Association of Selangor (FAS) deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, also the Selangor FC Technical Committee chairman, said this was one of the matters brought up in a brief conversation with the Red Giants stalwart this afternoon.

Shahril said the 26-year-old also asked him to send his regards to his teammates in Selangor FC.

“I just visited him (Faisal Halim). Thankfully, he was awake but he is scheduled to undergo a second surgery at 5.30 pm today. I managed to see him and he said ‘hi’. He also asked for everyone to pray for his quick recovery and send his regards to his friends.

“I was told that a similar procedure (as in the first operation) would be carried out because of the severe effect of the acid splash on his face, neck arm and body. So, the procedure is being down section by section,’ he
said when met after visiting Faisal Halim at a private hospital here today.

Yesterday, Shahril confirmed that Faisal Halim suffered fourth-degree burns after undergoing the first surgery, in addition to his movements and speech having been affected by the unfortunate incident.

On Sunday (May 5), the local football fraternity was stunned when Faisal Halim suffered fourth-degree burns after being splashed with acid at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

The player, who clinched the 2023 Asian Cup Goal of the Tournament award in Qatar in January, is expected to be out for five to six months and will miss out on the two remaining matches against Kyrgyzstan and Taiwan in next month’s second round of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

This is the second incident involving a national footballer after Terengganu FC (TFC) winger Akhyar Rashid suffered injuries to his head and leg after being attacked by two robbers in his housing area in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday (May 2).
