ARC 2024: BUNGA RAYA 15’S LOSE TO UAE 19-62

KUALA LUMPUR, The national rugby squad, Bunga Raya 15’s, concluded their campaign in the 2024 Asia Rugby Championship (ARC) with a 19-62 defeat to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Premier Division at the Sevens Stadium, Ud al-Bayda, Dubai yesterday.

The squad, coached by Mohd Farid Syazwan Abu Bakar, had to concede to the strength of the UAE, trailing by 28 points and allowing their opponents to dominate the first half with a score of 40-12.

In the second half, Malaysia scored a try through Henry Christian Preston in the 45th minute, followed by a conversion by Lee Chapman in an attempt to close the gap but it was insufficient as the UAE scored four tries and one conversion to secure their victory.

This result placed the Bunga Raya squad at the bottom of Pool A without any points after five matches, necessitating their participation in the ARC Division One competition next year.

In previous matches, the Bunga Raya 15’s were defeated 5-55 by South Korea and 6-70 by defending champions Hong Kong.
