Booster Doses to Target Workers at Factories and in Informal Economy

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has encouraged the strengthening of herd immunity against the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among workers at factories and in informal economy.
Addressing to the inauguration ceremony of the phase IV of flood protection and drainage improvement project in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen appealed to all those who have received the basic doses of COVID-19 vaccines to get the booster doses to build more herd immunity against the pandemic as their (basic doses) effectiveness may reduce.
Through the Khmer New Year celebrations which ended last weekend, we can assess that the herd immunity in Cambodia is very strong thanks to the government’s measures and the participation of the citizens, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen, adding that anyway, we need to continue strengthening the herd immunity as the number of those receiving the booster doses remains low.
According to a report of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination, as of April 19, more than 92 percent of the total Cambodian population of 16 million have already obtained the basic doses, but only over 8 million and 1.2 million have received the third and fourth shots, respectively.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister thus urged the launch of vaccination campaign among workers at factories and vendors at markets where there are a lot of people.
During the recent Khmer New Year holiday, the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the municipal and provincial administrations have installed vaccination centres at pagodas, tourism destinations, etc. so that people can their New Year and receive the vaccination.
