BATU KAWAN, Part of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS), from KM12.5 to KM18.5, will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday for cable inspection work.

Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) said the closure will start from 9 am until 5 pm throughout the three days and that the contra flow lane will be activated.

“The temporary closure is to make way for cable inspection work on the main span and will operate as usual after the inspection,” it said in a Facebook post today.

JKSB advises road users to observe all signboards and instructions.

‘For any enquiries, emergency assistance, or latest traffic updates, users are advised to contact JKSB Hotline at 1-300-30-2828,’ it said.

Chinese Foreign Minister Begins Official Visit in Cambodia

H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, started his three-day official visit in Cambodia this afternoon.

He was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC).

According to a press release of the MFAIC, during the visit, H.E. Wang Yi will be granted a royal audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, at the Royal Palace. He will also pay separate courtesy calls on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister.

H.E. Wang Yi will co-chair with H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Seventh Cambo
dia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee Meeting. He will also hold bilateral talks with H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to exchange views on further consolidating close and excellent bilateral ties spanning wide-ranging areas.

VARIETY OF PROGRAMMES LINED UP FOR HBN2024 IN MELAKA


ALOR GAJAH, A variety of programmes are planned for the National Youth Day 2024 (HBN2024) celebrations, which will be held from May 24 to 26 in Melaka, and will be segmented into ten “Rakan Muda” lifestyle segments.

State Youth Development, Sports, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) Committee chairman, VP Shanmugam, said the programmes at Dataran Pahlawan in Bandar Hilir would cover segments such as racing circuit, Earth, democracy, digital, expression, music, skills, business, and care.

“Preparations to be the host are going smoothly, and we have held three meetings with the state government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to ensure it will be a success.

“The HBN2024 celebration is a very important and meaningful event for the state, especially since it has been a long time since Melaka hosted such an event, and it is also seen as a major attraction, particularly with the ongoing Visit Melaka Year (TMM2024),” he said.

He was speaking to reporters at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House
for the Gadek state constituency at Bandar Satelit, Pulau Sebang, today, which was also attended by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Expanding on the details, Shanmugam said the Melaka-level HBN Melaka, scheduled for May 18 and 19, will feature various activities such as debates, public speaking, e-sports, “waste to cash,” auto shows, and engine oil change events.

Lao President to Pay a Two-day State Visit to Cambodia Early Next Week

President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, H.E. Thongloun SISOULITH, will lead a high-level delegation on a state visit to Cambodia from April 23 to 24, at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of Cambodia.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued tonight, during the visit, H.E. the President will be granted a royal audience by His Majesty the King at the Royal Palace.

H.E. Thongloun SISOULITH will meet separately with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN Sen, President of the Senate, Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei KHUON Sudary, President of the National Assembly, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, the Prime Minister.

The Lao President is expected to exchange views with Cambodian leaders on enhancing Cambodia-Laos cooperation; as well as regional and international issues of common interest.
