Cambodia, as the Chair of the Ottawa Convention in 2024, has asked all Pacific countries to join as state parties of the Ottawa Convention toward no-threats of mine and explosive remnants of war in the region.

The request was made by H.E. H.E. Ly Thuch also urged Micronesia to vote in favour of the UN’s decision on the implementation of the Ottawa Convention and consider becoming a state party of the convention.

The senior minister also called on Micronesia to encourage two more countries in the Pacific region, including Tonga and the Marshall Islands, to engage in the convention’s activities and become the convention’s state parties.

Mr. Johnny Ha
dley spoke highly of Cambodia’s effort as of the Chair of the Ottawa Convention and pledged to bring for discussion the requests from Cambodia.
