Cambodia, Cuba to Deepen Cooperation on Information Exchange

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Cuba have agreed to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation on information exchange for the mutual interest of the two peoples.

The agreement was made by Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith and visiting H.E. Gerardo Peñalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, during their meeting here at the ministry this morning.

Both sides agreed to improve the cooperation between the Cambodian state-owned news agency, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) and its Cuban counterpart, Prensa Latina (PL), through the update of their cooperation agreement and visit exchange.

The meeting also touched upon the collaboration in combating fake news and misinformation.

Besides, the two sides spoke highly of the good relationship between Cambodia and Cuba as well as their mutual support on international arena.

H.E. Gerardo Peñalver Portal arrived in Cambodia on Sept. 1 from Vietnam for a three-day official visit. He is leaving Phnom Penh this afternoon for Vientiane, Laos, the last leg of his tour of three Southeast Asian nations.

Cambodia and Cuba established their diplomatic ties on April 15, 1960, while AKP and PL reached an agreement on information exchange on Mar. 26, 2012.
